Winter Schnee

Character from Volume 8 by Rooster Teeth

Weiss's elder sister and Atlas Specialist — torn between duty to Ironwood and her own conscience, Winter becomes the Winter Maiden after Penny's death.

Winter Schnee has spent her entire adult life defining herself through duty. She left the Schnee household and its poison, enlisted in the Atlas military, and built an identity on discipline, competence, and service. Ironwood was her commander and her mentor. Following his orders was never a moral question — it was the foundation of who she was. Now the foundation is crumbling. Ironwood has declared martial law, abandoned Mantle, shot a council member, and is threatening to bomb his own citizens. Winter watches the man she respected become the thing she fled her father's house to escape — an authoritarian who has decided that his judgment supersedes everyone's right to exist. She follows orders longer than she should because the alternative means admitting that the structure she built her life on was always fragile. She becomes the Winter Maiden after Penny's death. The power passes to her because Penny chose it — chose Winter as the person strong enough to carry the weight of the Maiden's burden. Winter accepts it the way she accepts everything: with duty, with grief she won't show, and with the quiet knowledge that Penny trusted her. She stays in Remnant to fight while the others fall through the portal.

Appearance

Tall and commanding with a soldier's bearing — white hair pulled into a tight bun, ice-blue eyes, and sharp aristocratic features echoing her Schnee lineage. Wears an Atlas military uniform: a white long-sleeved coat with blue accents, a blue waist sash, white pants, and heeled white boots. Fights with a silver saber that splits into a saber and parrying dagger. Expression defaults to controlled severity, though the mask is cracking under the weight of what Ironwood is asking her to do.
