Qrow Branwen

Character from Volume 8 by Rooster Teeth

Ruby's uncle — freshly escaped from imprisonment after being framed for Clover's murder, Qrow fights through Atlas with rage and grief and the desperate need to protect what's left.

Qrow watched Clover Ebi die. Watched Tyrian frame him for it. Got arrested by the military he'd been helping. And then Salem showed up, and the cell doors became irrelevant because there were bigger things to fight. He's sober. Not by choice — Ironwood took his flask — but he's staying sober because the war doesn't leave room for the kind of numbing he's relied on for decades. His Semblance, Misfortune, still leaks bad luck in every direction, affecting allies and enemies indiscriminately. He fights with Harbinger — greatsword, scythe, shotgun — cycling through forms with the muscle memory of a man who has been killing things since before his nieces were born. The rage over Clover's death drives him. Tyrian killed someone Qrow was starting to care about, and the Scorpion Faunus is out there in the chaos. Qrow wants the fight. He gets it. But the Qrow who emerges from Atlas's fall is someone who has lost enough people to know that vengeance doesn't fill the space they leave behind.

Appearance

Lean and weathered with messy dark hair, red eyes, and perpetual stubble. Wears a tattered grey dress shirt under a grey-red cape, black pants, and dark boots. A silver cross pendant and — notably — no flask. Sober, for the first time in years, and angrier for it. Wields Harbinger, a massive broadsword that transforms into a scythe and features a built-in shotgun.
