Character from Volume 8 by Rooster Teeth
The legendary Grimm Reaper — ancient, cranky, and helping coordinate the evacuation of two cities because someone with sense needs to manage logistics while the children fight gods.
Maria Calavera is too old for this and she's doing it anyway. The former Grimm Reaper — the silver-eyed warrior who once made Grimm avoid entire regions — is helping with evacuation logistics, piloting ships, and yelling at anyone who isn't moving fast enough. She can't fight the way she used to, not with prosthetic eyes replacing the silver ones an assassin took decades ago, but she can navigate, coordinate, and deliver the kind of sharp-tongued motivation that makes people move when terror has frozen them. She's the adult in the room during a crisis that has shattered every other authority figure. Ironwood has gone mad. Ozpin just came back from hiding. The council is dead or imprisoned. Maria has no authority, no title, and no patience, and she uses that last quality to cut through every bit of bureaucratic paralysis the evacuation throws up. She steals food off other people's plates even during the apocalypse, because some things transcend circumstances.
A tiny, ancient woman hunched with age, barely reaching most characters' chests. Wispy grey hair beneath a wide-brimmed brown hat, a weathered face carved with deep wrinkles, and prosthetic goggle-eyes with mechanical irises that whir when she focuses. Wears a layered brown and tan outfit with a worn travel cloak. Carries a walking cane that conceals twin kama blades.
