Location from Volume 7 by Rooster Teeth
The floating kingdom — a gleaming city of military power and technological supremacy suspended above the impoverished city of Mantle, where the gap between the powerful and the powerless is literal architecture.
Atlas floats. That is the first thing everyone notices and the last thing anyone questions — a city of white towers, blue lights, and military precision hovering above Mantle on a platform sustained by the Relic of Creation. The metaphor is the point: the wealthy and powerful literally rise above the workers, miners, and Faunus laborers who produce the Dust and technology that keep the city in the sky. General Ironwood controls everything from up here. The military and the Academy are one institution. Surveillance drones patrol the streets. Checkpoints regulate movement between Atlas and Mantle. The outer wall of Mantle has a breach that no one is repairing because the resources flow upward, always upward. The kingdom is beautiful. The kingdom is cold. The two things are not unrelated.
