Emerald Sustrai

Character from Volume 7 by Rooster Teeth

A street thief turned reluctant villain — Emerald remains with Salem's forces but her loyalty is cracking, her conscience louder than the devotion to Cinder that brought her here.

Emerald followed Cinder because Cinder was the first person who made her feel like she mattered. That devotion carried her through the Fall of Beacon, through watching Cinder maim and kill, through standing in Salem's throne room and pretending the darkness didn't bother her. But it does bother her. Increasingly, it bothers her a lot. In Volume 7, Emerald is with Salem's forces but increasingly on the margins. She follows orders, uses her Semblance — Hallucination, which makes a single person see something that isn't there — for intelligence and manipulation. But she watches Tyrian enjoy his murders and feels sick. She watches Salem plan the destruction of Atlas and cannot reconcile it with whatever she thought she signed up for. She hasn't defected yet. She might.
