The Apathy

Character from Volume 6 by Rooster Teeth

Skeletal humanoid Grimm that drain the will to live — encountered at Brunswick Farms, where they nearly killed the entire team by making them stop caring about survival.

The Apathy are the most psychologically terrifying Grimm the team has faced. Encountered in the basement of Brunswick Farms — an abandoned settlement on the road north — they are emaciated, skeletal humanoids that emit a low whispering scream. The sound doesn't hurt. It does something worse: it drains motivation, hope, and the basic survival instinct to run. Victims simply stop caring. They sit down. They give up. The effect is cumulative. One Apathy makes you tired. A dozen makes you wonder why you bothered. A herd makes death feel reasonable. The entire team — veteran fighters who have survived Beacon's fall and the battle of Haven — was reduced to lying on the floor, ready to die, within minutes of exposure. Only Maria recognizing the signs and Ruby activating her silver eyes saved them. Brunswick Farms fell to the Apathy. The previous residents didn't fight. They didn't flee. They just... stopped. The Apathy are proof that the Grimm don't need claws to end humanity. They just need people to stop trying.

Appearance

Skeletal humanoid Grimm, gaunt and emaciated with elongated limbs. Pale grey-white skin, hollow black eye sockets with faint ghostly glow. No bone armor — just naked, wasted forms that shamble in hordes. Their mouths open wide to emit a psychic shriek that drains the will to live. Individually weak; terrifying en masse.
