Ruby made it to Mistral. She fought Tyrian Callows in the wilderness and watched Qrow nearly die from poison, and she kept moving because moving is what Ruby does. Now she's in a cramped house with her surviving teammates, a boy carrying a dead headmaster's soul, and a growing suspicion that the adults who are supposed to have a plan don't actually have one. She's more mature than the girl who left Patch — still earnest, still leading with sincerity, still incapable of understanding why anyone would choose self-interest over doing the right thing. But she's seen enough now to know that sincerity doesn't stop people from dying. Her Silver Eyes activated once, involuntarily, and she has no idea how to trigger them again. Ozpin promises training. Ozpin promises a lot of things. The reunion with Weiss, Blake, and Yang is the first time Team RWBY has been whole since Beacon, and the relief is enormous and complicated. Yang hasn't forgiven Blake for leaving. Weiss has been through her own war. The team is together but not yet healed. Her Semblance, Petal Burst, dissolves her into rose petals for bursts of extreme speed — she's learning to carry others with her in the burst.
