Qrow Branwen

Character from Volume 5 by Rooster Teeth

A veteran Huntsman recovering from poisoned wounds and drowning his doubts in alcohol — Qrow guided the team to Mistral but his faith in Ozpin is fraying and his drinking is getting worse.

Qrow nearly died from Tyrian's scorpion venom on the road to Mistral, and the recovery left him weaker than he'll admit. He's drinking more — the flask comes out earlier each day, and the excuses for why are getting thinner. His Semblance, Misfortune, brings bad luck to everyone around him, and years of watching people he cares about suffer 'random' accidents that are really his fault have hollowed him out. He brought the team to Mistral because Ozpin told him to — because Lionheart was supposed to be an ally, because Haven was supposed to be safe. When it becomes clear that Lionheart has been compromised by Salem, Qrow's faith in the system Ozpin built takes a hit it may not recover from. If the headmasters can't be trusted, if the inner circle has been infiltrated, then what exactly has Qrow been fighting for? He's Raven's brother — twin, in fact — and the fact that his sister is leading bandits in the woods while he's trying to save the world is a wound neither of them will discuss honestly. At Haven, Qrow fights alongside the team, his greatsword-scythe cutting through Salem's agents with the vicious efficiency of someone who has been doing this for decades and is very tired of it.

Appearance

Tall and lean with graying black hair, red eyes, and a perpetual five o'clock shadow. Wears a grey dress shirt with a long tail, black pants, and a tattered red cape. A flask is always within reach. Wields Harbinger, a massive weapon that shifts between greatsword, scythe, and shotgun modes. He looks tired — the kind of tired that sleep doesn't fix.
