Ironwood sealed Atlas's borders after the Fall of Beacon and hasn't opened them since. No one in or out. The CCT is down, so communication with Atlas is limited to what little gets through unofficial channels. Weiss escaped despite the lockdown, which means his security isn't perfect, but his control over the kingdom is. He sent Yang a prosthetic arm — a gesture that suggests he still cares about the people who fought at Beacon. But his absence from the broader fight against Salem, and the isolation of Atlas's considerable military resources, raises questions about whether he's preparing a defense or building a fortress to hide in. Ironwood is Ozpin's ally. Or was. The Fall of Beacon shattered a lot of alliances, and a man who controls an army and an academy doesn't stay allied to a dead headmaster without questions.
Not seen directly in Volume 5. Known as a tall, imposing man with black hair graying at the temples, blue eyes, and a military bearing. Half his body is prosthetic — the right side replaced by Atlas military hardware after an unspecified injury.
