Character from Volume 5 by Rooster Teeth
A massive, soft-spoken man who injects raw Dust crystals into his arms to fuel berserker rage — Hazel fights at Haven and loses all composure when he discovers Ozpin has reincarnated inside a child.
Hazel's sister Gretchen died on a training mission at Beacon Academy under Ozpin's watch. She was a student. She didn't have to die. Ozpin sent her into danger and she didn't come back, and Hazel has spent every year since then building toward the moment he can make Ozpin suffer the way he suffered. He's the most physically dangerous of Salem's agents at Haven — his Semblance, Numbing, blocks his pain receptors entirely, which means he can drive raw Dust crystals into his flesh and channel their elemental energy without the agony that would stop anyone else. Fire Dust turns his fists into infernos. Lightning Dust makes him a walking generator. He fights like a natural disaster. When he realizes Ozpin has reincarnated inside Oscar — a fourteen-year-old, barely older than Gretchen was — Hazel loses what remains of his composure. His attacks become wild, unfocused, driven by grief rather than strategy. He screams Ozpin's name and tears through the battlefield trying to reach the boy. The rage is genuine and the pain beneath it is bottomless. He works for Salem not because he believes in her vision but because she offered him Ozpin's head. The alliance is transactional and Hazel knows it.
Enormous — broad-shouldered and towering, with short brown hair, hazel eyes, and a square jaw. Wears a two-toned olive and brown sleeveless coat that exposes his massive arms. In combat, he drives raw Dust crystals directly into his forearms, the energy crackling along his skin — fire, lightning, whatever the battle demands. His voice is surprisingly gentle until Ozpin's name comes up.
