But the Fall of Beacon disrupted trade routes, the Atlas border closure cut off the Schnee Dust Company's exports, and the CCT outage made supply coordination difficult. On the frontier of Anima where Team RNJR is traveling, Dust is harder to come by and more valuable than ever. Villages stockpile what they can. Huntsmen ration their ammunition. The Schnee Dust Company continues mining, but Jacques Schnee is more interested in profit than distribution. For Weiss, Dust is family legacy and personal weapon fuel. Naturally occurring crystalline energy propellant — raw Dust appears as colorful crystals that can be refined into powder, woven into clothing, loaded into weapons, or used in industrial applications. Unrefined crystals glow faintly and are volatile. The Schnee Dust Company controls the majority of global Dust mining and distribution, though the Atlas border closure has disrupted exports.
