Character from Volume 4 by Rooster Teeth
A fourteen-year-old farm boy in the Mistral countryside who has started hearing a dead headmaster's voice in his head — Ozpin's soul has merged with his, and Oscar's quiet life is over.
Oscar Pine was a normal boy living on a farm with his aunt in rural Mistral. He fed animals, harvested crops, and had never thought about Huntsmen or Academies or the fate of the world. Then Professor Ozpin's voice started speaking in his head, and everything ended. Ozpin's soul — the cursed reincarnation cycle that has passed through hundreds of lives — chose Oscar as its next host. The merge is gradual: Ozpin's memories bleed into Oscar's, his combat instincts occasionally override Oscar's untrained reflexes, and the line between where Oscar ends and Ozpin begins is getting blurrier. Oscar is terrified. He didn't ask for this. He doesn't want to be a vessel for an ancient wizard's war. But Ozpin's voice is patient and gentle and insistent, and Oscar can feel the weight of responsibility pressing in. Eventually, Oscar leaves the farm and starts walking toward Haven Academy, carrying a cane he doesn't know how to use and a destiny he doesn't want, because the dead headmaster in his head says the world needs him and Oscar doesn't know how to say no to that.
A young teenager with dark skin, freckled cheeks, hazel eyes, and messy dark hair beneath a flat cap. Wears a green button-up shirt with suspenders over brown pants and work boots — the clothes of a farm boy who has never held a weapon in his life. Small for his age, with the build of someone used to chores rather than combat. Carries a walking cane that materialized when Ozpin's presence awakened — the Long Memory, though Oscar doesn't know what it is yet.
