Character from Volume 3 by Rooster Teeth
Cinder's enforcer — a skilled kickfighter with prosthetic legs and a sociopath's comfort with cruelty, posing as a Haven transfer student while engineering the fall of Beacon.
Mercury is the son of an assassin who killed his own father and felt nothing about it. He fights with prosthetic legs — the originals were taken from him by his father Marcus as a 'training exercise' — and the boots he wears conceal weaponized mechanisms that make his kicks hit like gunshots. At Beacon he plays the role of a cocky but unremarkable Haven student. In reality he's Cinder's muscle and Emerald's partner in the conspiracy. He faked an injury to frame Yang in the tournament — lying on the ground clutching his leg while Emerald's Semblance made Yang see him attacking, causing her to strike a 'defenseless' opponent on live broadcast. The plan to destroy public trust in Huntsmen runs through Mercury's performance. He doesn't have a Semblance — his father stole it, killed it somehow. He compensates with pure technical skill and prosthetics that give him superhuman leg strength. He enjoys the cruelty of the plan in a way that even Emerald finds disturbing.
Athletic build with short grey hair and grey eyes, carrying himself with the lazy confidence of someone who knows exactly how dangerous he is. At Beacon he wears a Haven Academy uniform. In combat his style is all legs — devastating kicks amplified by prosthetic legs that conceal built-in shotgun barrels, grey boots with silver greaves that fire on impact.
