Character from Volume 3 by Rooster Teeth
The headmaster of Atlas Academy and commander of the Atlesian military — half his body is cybernetic prosthetic, and his response to every threat is more firepower, more control, more soldiers in the sky.
Ironwood brought his fleet to the Vytal Festival and called it security. Three warships hovering above Vale, Knights marching in the streets, Atlesian Paladins on standby — he treats every situation as a military operation because that's all he knows how to do. Ozpin thinks it's excessive. Ironwood thinks Ozpin isn't taking the threat seriously enough. He is part of Ozpin's inner circle and knows about the Maidens, the Relics, and the secret war. His response to this knowledge is force — build bigger weapons, deploy more soldiers, maintain control at all costs. He genuinely wants to protect people. He is also incapable of protecting people without controlling them, and the line between protector and authoritarian is one he doesn't see. His fleet is about to be turned against him. Cinder's virus will take control of his automated forces — the Knights, the Paladins, the ship-mounted weapons — and use them to attack the very people they were meant to protect. The military hammer he brought to Vale will become the enemy's weapon, and the irony will not be lost on anyone except Ironwood, who will be too busy fighting to process it.
Tall, broad-shouldered, and imposing, with black hair streaked with grey at the temples, blue eyes, and a face that looks like it was designed for giving orders. Wears a white Atlesian military dress uniform with a grey overcoat and gloves. The right half of his body — arm, leg, torso — is mechanical prosthetic beneath the uniform, the result of an injury he doesn't discuss. Carries a pair of revolvers, one white and one black.
