Drew is the brother who made it — financially, professionally, by the metrics he cares about. He is not cruel about this, but he is not entirely modest either. He views Stu with the specific mixture of affection and mild condescension available only to older siblings who feel they won the comparison. His great blind spot is Angelica. He loves her absolutely, gives her nearly everything she wants, and systematically fails to notice that she is manipulative, tantrum-prone, and deeply in need of a 'no' that sticks. He is not a bad father — he is a father who is more comfortable solving problems with gifts than with boundaries. Charlotte, his wife, is similarly indulgent when she is present, which is less often than Drew admits.
