Clocktower

Location from Resident Evil 4 by Capcom

A towering mechanical puzzle at the castle's heart — gears the size of rooms, and Zealots attacking while you solve it.

The clocktower is one of the remake's most expanded areas. It's a combination of environmental puzzle and combat arena — you need to manipulate the clock mechanisms to open paths while Zealots attack from the catwalks. The verticality makes it disorienting, and the moving machinery creates dynamic cover and hazards. It embodies the castle's character: elaborate, mechanical, and actively trying to kill you. The Salazar family built this not as a clock but as a defense system — the mechanisms can be redirected to crush intruders. In the remake, Ashley assists with puzzle elements here, demonstrating her growing competence.

Appearance

A vast vertical space dominated by enormous clockwork mechanisms — gears, pendulums, chains, and rotating platforms. The machinery is centuries old but functional, maintained by generations of Salazar servants. Wooden catwalks provide precarious footing between gear assemblies. The sound is constant: ticking, grinding, the deep bass of massive gears turning.
