Mike

Character from Resident Evil 4 by Capcom

A helicopter pilot who provides five minutes of air support and a lifetime of emotional damage — the friend Leon almost made.

Mike is on-screen for maybe five minutes total, and his death is one of the most emotionally effective moments in RE4. He shows up when Leon is at his most desperate — outnumbered on the island, exhausted, running low on everything. His helicopter provides overwhelming fire support while he chats over the radio like they're old friends. He's enthusiastic, professional, and genuinely excited to help. He talks about grabbing beers after the mission. He calls Leon 'buddy.' And then his helicopter gets shot down, and Leon — a man who jokes through everything — goes quiet. 'Mike...' is all he says. The game earns that moment by giving you just enough time with Mike to like him before taking him away.

Appearance

Seen only through his helicopter — a military attack chopper that swoops in during the island section, raining fire on Militants and clearing paths for Leon. His voice is young, enthusiastic, American. You never see his face.
