Halo Group

Item from remembrance-of-earths-past by

A private aerospace and lightspeed-engine corporation founded around Cheng Xin's DX3906 stellar deed, run after her hibernation by AA, then taken over by Thomas Wade — the company that built the curvature drive in defiance of the Council and the lifeboat that carried Cheng Xin out of the Solar System.

Halo Group is the trilogy's only successful corporate rebellion. Cheng Xin inherited the stellar deed from Yun Tianming and the implied wealth made the company possible; AA ran it competently; Wade took it from her and aimed it at the only project the Council had banned, the curvature drive. By the time the Council understood what Halo had built, the ship was already gone with Cheng Xin and AA aboard, hours ahead of the foil.

Appearance

A skyscraper-and-orbital-foundry conglomerate operating across Earth, the Moon, and the asteroid belt. Logo: a thin gold ring around a small star. The flagship vessel — Halo, the lifeboat — is a slim cylindrical curvature ship about thirty meters long, all-white, named after the company that built it.
