An elderly Australian Aboriginal man, pulled out of hibernation centuries after his death-bed wish, who befriends Cheng Xin and AA in the death-camp Australia of the Great Resettlement and lives, gentle and unhurried, to a hundred and fifty.
Fraisse is the only character in the trilogy who does not hate the Trisolarans, and the only one who has earned the right not to. His country was taken from him long before they arrived; he treats their occupation as one more chapter in a thousand-chapter book. He took the State's offer of hibernation only because his elders asked him to preserve their language. He cooks for AA and Cheng Xin, listens patiently to their grief, and does not judge them. He outlives most of the world.
An old Aboriginal Australian, thin to the bone, weathered skin the deep red-brown of his country, white hair pulled back. Wears practical desert clothes — a loose collared shirt, canvas pants, broad-brimmed hat. There is a deep stillness in the way he stands, a man who has learned to wait through any weather.
