Dongfang Yanxu carried herself as the model future officer — disciplined, technically sharp, ideologically loyal in a system where even the suspicion of disloyalty ended careers. Her tragedy is that the man she could not stop, Zhang Beihai, was the man she would have respected most. In the Battle of Darkness she came to the same first-strike conclusion as the other captains — only seconds too late.
Tall — taller than Earth-born humans, with the elongated bones of a generation raised partly in microgravity — and slim, with cropped black hair and the trim navy-blue uniform of a Solar Fleet captain. A small white scar runs along her jawline. She moves with a microgravity dancer's economy.
