The White House in this version of the world is both the executive residence of President Claremont and the everyday backdrop of Alex and June's lives: the Rose Garden they've walked through a thousand times, the private quarters upstairs that feel nothing like the mansion below, the East Wing where the press finds them if they're not careful. It's the only home Alex has known since he was fifteen. He loves it and finds it suffocating in roughly equal measure.
