Regulus ag Sun

Character from Red Rising by Pierce Brown

The richest man alive — a Silver magnate who secretly financed the entire Rising because tyranny is bad for business and freedom is the ultimate market opportunity. Greed as revolution.

Regulus ag Sun — Quicksilver — is the man who proves that revolutions run on money as much as blood. The wealthiest Silver in the solar system, he built Sun Industries into a commercial empire that rivaled Gold houses, then secretly used that empire to fund the Sons of Ares. His motives are genuinely complex: he hates the Society for limiting Silver commerce, believes in meritocracy as an economic philosophy, and also recognizes that being the financier of liberation makes him indispensable to whatever comes next. He is not idealistic — he is strategic. Every credit he invested in the Rising was also an investment in his own post-war power. He speaks softly, thinks in systems, and never makes a deal that doesn't benefit him. His relationship with Matteo shows his human side — genuine affection in a life otherwise dominated by calculation. He is neither hero nor villain but something more honest: an opportunist who happened to bet on the right side.

Appearance

Average height with Silver's characteristic lean build, dressed in understated luxury that costs more than warships. His face is sharp and ageless — medical technology keeping him perpetually middle-aged. Eyes like calculating machines, always assessing value. Moves with the confidence of someone who owns the ground beneath other people's feet. Wears no sigils or medals — his wealth is statement enough.
