The republic allied with the Scarlet Guard and provided the resources, vehicles, and aircraft that turned a guerrilla resistance into a standing army. Evangiline and Elane fled here to live openly. Kilorn became its Premier. Montfort represents the series' thesis made real: that the blood-based caste system is not inevitable, and that choosing equality is possible even when it's not easy.
