Character from Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
Rise, Red as the dawn — a militant rebel organization of Red fighters who have been bleeding for equality since before Mare Barrow knew she could bleed silver.
The Scarlet Guard is the Red world's answer to Silver supremacy — a militant resistance organization founded in the Lakelands and expanded into Norta. Their motto is 'Rise, Red as the dawn.' They operate in a cell structure where members know only their immediate unit, using code names for security. The Guard evolved from scattered undercover operatives to a standing army after allying with Montfort. Mare Barrow became their most visible symbol — a Red girl with Silver power proving that the caste system's foundations were lies. But the Guard existed before Mare and would have continued without her. She accelerated what was already inevitable. Their methods are not gentle. They bomb Silver infrastructure. They assassinate officials. They recruit through hope and leverage. They are freedom fighters or terrorists depending on whose blood is on the floor. The series does not resolve this tension. It asks you to sit with it.
An underground army identified by red sashes, red scarves, red armbands — the color of their blood worn as defiance. They operate in cells, use code names, and communicate through dead drops and safe houses. They look like ordinary Reds until the shooting starts.
