Character from Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
The Scarlet Guard's sharpest blade — a soldier who lost her family to Silver cruelty, led a rebellion from the shadows, and raised a daughter in the middle of a war.
Farley is the Scarlet Guard incarnate — tough, strategic, and willing to sacrifice anything for Red liberation. She rose from captain to general through a combination of tactical brilliance and sheer refusal to die. Her village was drowned by the Lakelander king; her mother and sister died. Her father leveraged the tragedy for recruitment. She grew up in a revolution the way other people grow up in families. She is abrasive, combative, and prickly to everyone except the few people who've earned her trust. She hates Silvers on principle and makes exceptions only when forced to (Cal earned his through combat and conviction). She fell in love with Shade Barrow — Mare's brother, a Newblood teleporter — and became pregnant with their daughter Clara before Shade was killed at Corros Prison. Raising Clara during a civil war is one of the series' quietest acts of heroism. Farley fought battles and changed diapers. She planned assaults and sang lullabies. She is proof that revolution and motherhood are not mutually exclusive — they're the same stubbornness applied to different problems.
Tall at six feet with blonde hair she eventually shaves. A long scar runs across the lower half of her face. She carries a gun in a red sash belt and a knife in her boot. Her bearing is military — every movement is purposeful, economical, and slightly threatening. She does not look like someone who takes requests.
