Hawkie is a patient teacher and a protective father who handles Jake's clumsy flying attempts with the resigned frustration of a driving instructor whose student keeps hitting the curb. He and his mate Mystie built their nest near Jake's territory, and their daughter Sylphie bonded with Jake as an 'uncle' — a relationship that Hawkie tolerates because Jake infused their egg with Malefic Beastorb energy that made Sylphie far more powerful than she would have been naturally.
