Mount Tianshan

Location from The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang

The highest peak in the land — at its summit, a temple through which mortals can enter the Pantheon and stand before the gods.

Mount Tianshan is where the Trifecta entered the Pantheon — the physical location where they crossed from the human world into the realm of the gods and received their divine powers. The temple at the summit is the literal threshold between worlds, the place where the barrier is thinnest. It's also where Daji dies in The Burning God — returning to the place where it all began. The mountain serves as the trilogy's sacred geography: the place where mortals become something more, and where they pay the price for it.

Appearance

A towering mountain rising above all others — its peak disappears into clouds and myth. The temple at the summit is ancient, barely maintained, existing at the intersection of the physical and spiritual worlds. The air thins. The boundary between worlds thins with it. Climbing Tianshan is a pilgrimage that few attempt and fewer complete.
