Khurdalain serves as a major military objective during the Federation of Mugen's invasion of Nikara. Its defense and eventual fate represent the conventional military dimension of the war — the part that happens with strategy, logistics, and human soldiers rather than shamanic fire. The battle for Khurdalain is where Rin transitions from student to warrior, where the Cike are deployed as a unit, and where the human cost of the war becomes viscerally real.
A large Nikara city with the layered architecture of centuries — old walls reinforced with newer fortifications, merchant districts beside military installations, civilian life pressed against the machinery of war. During the siege, it becomes a nightmare of rubble, fire, and desperate defense.
