Ramsa

Character from The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang

The Cike's explosives expert — not a shaman, just a teenager who is terrifyingly good at making things blow up and joined a squad of god-touched warriors because someone needed to handle the munitions.

Ramsa is the Cike's sole non-shaman, which makes him either the bravest or the most insane member of the unit — a debate he'd probably enjoy. His expertise is demolitions, incendiary devices, and anything that produces a satisfying detonation. He's young, cocky about his specialty, and genuinely brilliant at the engineering of destruction. His presence in the Cike is a reminder that the unit isn't purely supernatural — they need practical skills too, and Ramsa's ability to level fortifications, create diversions, and manufacture weapons from scavenged materials makes him as valuable as any shaman. He's also the member most visibly affected by the horror of war, because he doesn't have a god buffering his emotions.

Appearance

Young — notably younger than most Cike members. Small and wiry with quick, nervous hands that are perpetually stained with chemical residue. Bright, darting eyes with an expression that alternates between manic enthusiasm (when discussing explosives) and underage anxiety (when discussing everything else).
