Character from The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang
Chaghan's twin and the Cike's beast-caller — she commands animals with a thought and anchors her brother to the physical world so his visions don't swallow him whole.
Qara is quieter than Chaghan but no less sharp. Where her brother sees the spirit world, she commands the living one — animals respond to her will, acting as scouts, weapons, and an intelligence network that blankets whatever territory the Cike operates in. She's practical, direct, and less inclined to explain herself than Chaghan is to explain his visions. Her role in the Cike is operational: animal reconnaissance, perimeter security, and tactical support through coordinated animal attacks. She's also her brother's lifeline — the shamanic bond between them means she can pull him back from the spirit world when his visions go too deep. This caretaker role defines her more than she'd like.
Shares Chaghan's albino coloring — white hair, pale skin, light eyes — but carries it with more physical vitality than her brother. More solidly built, more present in her body. Often accompanied by animals — birds perched on her shoulders, wolves at her heel — in a way that reads as natural rather than supernatural until you notice the animals are too coordinated.
