• Can fully enter the spirit realm without leaving his body — Qara's anchor presence makes this possible; declared himself the most powerful shaman in the spirit world
• Twin of Qara — anchor-bonded when they were days old; their bond is the mechanism that allows his spirit-walking; if one dies, the other follows
• Son of Naimad Kalagan Suren, last true khan of the Hinterlands — sent south at age eleven with Qara to spy on the Cike as his mother's experiment
• His physical health deteriorates the more he uses his abilities — the spirit world pulls at him constantly; after Qara's death, he paradoxically grows stronger as he becomes more fully physical
• Returns to the Hinterlands to unite the Hundred Clans as their ruler — his arc takes him from Cike operative to sovereign
