Character from pokemon-unova by
Ash's Fire-type pig — abandoned by his first trainer, caught with a rope tied around his mouth, and loyal once he realizes he's allowed to eat.
Tepig's backstory is the rawest in the Unova party. Previous trainer Shamus abandoned him tied to a post with his snout bound because he couldn't light a fire. Ash freed him, fed him a handful of pellets, and had a partner for life. In battle Tepig is all heart and not much discipline — he hurls himself at Flame Charge attacks that miss, absorbs return fire, gets up. Loses to Shamus's Heatmor in a rematch because he fights angry instead of smart, then wins the second rematch as Pignite by doing both. On the team he's the eater. The cooker. The one who stands too close to Cilan's pots. After evolution he's more grounded — Pignite takes hits for Oshawott, lifts rubble off fallen trainers during the Meloetta arc, and in the Unova League he pulls one of Ash's most technically impressive wins with Fire Pledge and Arm Thrust.
A stout orange-red piglet with black stripes, yellow snout ring, tiny cloven hooves, and a curly black tail. Permanently smudged with campfire soot even when nothing's on fire. Evolves into the stockier Pignite mid-Unova — taller, more bipedal, still the same anxious eyes.
