A Mythical Pokémon with two forms — Aria Forme sings, Pirouette Forme fights — and the one Team Rocket hunts through the entire middle of the arc.
Meloetta becomes Ash's sidekick for a mid-arc stretch. She sings the Relic Song which unlocks the Abyssal Ruins at Undella — which is why Team Rocket want her. She's shy, affectionate toward Ash and Pikachu, and completely trusting of humans to a degree that breaks Jessie's heart enough to briefly consider quitting. Pirouette Forme is her combat response to direct threat; when Team Rocket abducts her for the Undella ritual, she fights out as Pirouette and then cries in relief in Aria when she finds Ash again.
