Lenora is one of the most mature Gym Leaders in the anime. Her Gym is the Nacrene City Museum; to challenge her you have to pass a research-based puzzle first. In battle she runs a Herdier/Watchog pairing that surprises trainers who assume Normal-type means weak. Out of battle she's an archaeologist with strong views about ethical excavation and a direct working relationship with Cedric Juniper. She takes Ash's group seriously as colleagues, not kids. When Team Rocket tries to steal Dragonite eggs from the museum, Lenora is on-scene before Jenny arrives. She retires from Gym Leader duty mid-series to focus on the museum — her husband Hawes takes over the tours full-time and she hits the field.
