Ghetsis is a cult leader who built an entire regional movement — Team Plasma — to disarm Unova of its Pokémon so he could then rule the undefended region. He raised N from infancy for this specific purpose; every loving word was a line item. He is not ideological. He is ambitious and he is cruel, and the show refuses to soften it. His unmasking is the arc's best scene: in front of N, who thought they were co-regents, Ghetsis reveals he sees the boy as a tool and a failed experiment, and the coldness in his voice is the coldest note the anime has ever hit. He commands Team Plasma's Seven Sages and Shadow Triad personally. He runs the Kyurem operation at Opelucid that freezes the city. He survives the arc and escapes — the anime leaves him alive for a future reckoning.
