Cedric Juniper is the foremost expert on Unova's ancient ruins and the Dragonspiral Tower lineage of Reshiram/Zekrom. Professionally he and Aurea are colleagues; personally they bicker over whose methodology is right. He believes in first-person fieldwork (he'll actually climb Dragonspiral Tower with a lantern); she believes in structured data. In the Meloetta arc Cedric is the one who translates the Abyssal Ruins runes. He reads the prophecy. He identifies Kyurem. He does not stay for the fight — once the academic work is done, he goes home and writes the paper. Warm, absent-minded in the professor-from-a-children's-book tradition, and always slightly hurt that his daughter publishes more than he does.
