Brycen is the Gym Leader who used to star in movies. He took up martial arts for action films, got injured, retired, and found that teaching Pokémon combat was closer to choreography than either. His Gym is a stage — literally; the battle platform rotates during matches like a kabuki floor. He fights Cryogonal and Beartic with silent, minimal commands. Iris is terrified of Ice-types and Brycen specifically; her gym match against him is one of the cleanest character beats in the arc.
