Axew is infant-grade cute by design and the show leans all the way into it. His moves fizzle. His Dragon Rage explodes in his own face. He gets lost in Nimbasa's amusement park and has to be rescued. But the writers pair him with real danger — he bonds with the wild Druddigon, he holds his own briefly against N's Zekrom, and in the Opelucid arc he's the first dragon to respond when Drayden's Haxorus calls. His personality is Iris's in miniature: stubborn, brave, easily frightened but unwilling to show it. Loves Pikachu like an older brother and mimics him constantly — tried to do Thunderbolt once and nearly fell off a cliff. Under pressure he squeaks rather than roars, but when Iris is scared he squares up between her and the threat without hesitation.
A small green bipedal dragon the size of a housecat, cream-colored muzzle and belly, tiny tusks that don't yet reach out of his mouth, huge red eyes. Rides inside Iris's hair with only his head poking out. When he stands alone he totters — the head is heavier than the body. Tail the length of his torso, whips it when excited.
