A coastal town on Sinnoh's south shore — home to Professor Rowan's laboratory, where every new trainer in Sinnoh collects their first Pokémon.

Sandgem exists mostly because Rowan's lab is here. The rest of the town serves the rotating trickle of ten-year-olds who arrive with permission slips, leave with starter Pokémon, and never live there again. The beach is beautiful. Nobody swims.

Sand-colored buildings facing a beach, a tall white lab with an observation dome, Poké Ball-patterned walkways. Gulls. Wingull. A bronze plaque at the lab's entrance reading ROWAN POKÉMON RESEARCH INSTITUTE.
