Byron is Roark grown up and turned to stone. He refuses to soften his battle style for challengers, which has cost him challengers. He awards the Mine Badge only when he is genuinely beaten, which frustrates Ash through two separate attempts. His love for Roark is obvious in every mention but rarely said out loud. He fights during the Team Galactic Canalave raid.
Fifties, heavy-set, silver hair and beard, grey-and-orange miner's overalls, helmet with a lamp. Thick arms. Speaks in a low, gravelly rumble. Looks like he hand-carved the Gym himself.
