Barry talks faster than he thinks and catches up later. He worships Paul because Paul is serious and strong and unlike any adult in Barry's life, and he cannot understand why Dawn — who grew up next door to him in Twinleaf Town — sees Paul as a villain. He runs into Ash, mistakes him for Paul, and from that moment on considers Ash a rival. He reaches the Sinnoh League and bows out in the early rounds. He is the kind of kid who loses and then immediately asks for a rematch.

Appearance

Ten years old, spiky blond hair, orange-striped long-sleeve under a green scarf. Backpack too big for him, always half-unzipped. Moves like someone who has had two energy drinks and is about to have a third. Runs headlong into Ash on first meeting and announces the fine before apologizing.
