Character from pokemon-sinnoh by
A more mature, more ruthless Ash — the Sinnoh journey is the one where he finally stops being the eternal rookie, training with strategic depth and pushing into the Top 4 of a Pokémon League against a trainer wielding legendaries.
Ash arrives in Sinnoh ready. Brock watches it happen in the first month: Ash starts planning sequences three moves out, coaching his Pokémon through type disadvantages instead of just shouting Thunderbolt louder. Paul forces the change. Ash cannot out-power Paul's roster, so he has to out-think him, and once he starts thinking, he doesn't stop. He is still the Ash who befriends every wild Pokémon he meets, still the Ash who yells at adults for mistreating their teams, still the Ash who picks up a starving Turtwig or an abandoned Chimchar and refuses to let them go. But Paul's cruelty has given him a steel edge. When he battles Paul at Lake Acuity and loses three-to-six, he doesn't cry. He walks into Snowpoint and trains harder. By the Sinnoh League he is the best trainer on the floor below Cynthia. He beats Paul in a six-on-six full battle that feels like the argument between them finally ending. Then he faces Tobias — a trainer rostered with Darkrai and Latios — and pushes it to the final Pokémon, Pikachu versus Latios, before bowing out in the Top 4. It is the furthest he has ever gone.
Still short for his age, still impossibly wiry, but carrying himself with a settled confidence that wasn't there in Hoenn. Black hair spiking out from under a red-and-white cap — the Sinnoh version, with a blue poké-ball logo. Blue jacket with yellow trim over a black t-shirt, dark blue jeans, red-and-black sneakers. Green fingerless gloves. Pikachu almost always on his shoulder, Poké Balls on his belt. His eyes narrow when he's reading a battlefield — a tell he picked up fighting Paul.
