The Pokémon League is a structure, a concept, and a destination simultaneously. Every trainer in Sinnoh knows it exists. The gym circuit exists to lead here. The badges are proof you've earned the right to try. The Elite Four challenge requires defeating Aaron, Bertha, Flint, and Lucian in sequence without break — each one harder than the last, each one a different type specialty, each one designed to find and exploit whatever weakness you've been carrying through Sinnoh without addressing. And then Cynthia. Her Spiritomb has no weaknesses in Generation IV. Her Garchomp is faster than it should be and hits harder than the numbers suggest. Her team covers everything. She has been Champion for a long time. She hasn't been beaten. This is where the entire game points.
A grand stone complex at the northern tip of Sinnoh, accessible only after passing Victory Road. Four chambers in sequence, each designed around its Elite Four member's type specialty. At the end: the Champion's chamber, where Cynthia waits with six Pokémon that cover eleven of twelve possible types.
