Eterna City

Location from Pokémon Platinum by Game Freak / Nintendo

An ancient city on the edge of Eterna Forest — where history fades at the edges and Team Galactic keeps a secondary headquarters, and where an old statue of a legendary Pokémon stands in a park that nobody can explain.

Eterna has a slogan — 'History Living' — that describes it better than most slogans do. This is a city built around things it doesn't fully understand. The ancient statue in the park. The forest next door with an Old Chateau that Gardenia won't enter. The ruins on Route 211 with archaeological fragments nobody has dated precisely. The Galactic Eterna Building is one of Team Galactic's two main headquarters in the region, which is the most conspicuous 'evil organization HQ' in a franchise full of conspicuous evil organization HQs. It is a large multi-story building in the middle of a historic city. The locals have opinions about it. The Underground Man lives here and teaches players about the Grand Underground — the vast tunnel network beneath Sinnoh that has its own ecosystem.

Appearance

Old stone buildings with ivy creeping up the walls, a large park at the center with a statue of Dialga or Palkia (depending on version) that predates the city around it, and a forest pressing in from the east that most locals treat as a feature rather than a threat. The Team Galactic building is new and out of place.
