Giratina's held item — found in the Distortion World, it allows Giratina to maintain its Origin Forme outside its home dimension and boosts Ghost and Dragon moves.
The Griseous Orb is the only item in Generation IV that transforms a Pokémon's form while held. Normally, Giratina exists in Altered Forme outside its dimension and shifts to Origin Forme only within the Distortion World. The Griseous Orb makes Origin Forme portable. It also boosts Giratina's Ghost and Dragon-type moves by 20%, which is mechanically significant: Giratina in Origin Forme with the Griseous Orb hits harder and moves faster than Altered Forme. The Orb is found in the Distortion World — Giratina's home dimension — which is appropriate. It's an artifact of that place. Bringing it into the normal world is bringing a piece of the reverse-mirror dimension with you.
A pale orb with a ghostly, slightly translucent quality — it seems to absorb light rather than reflect it. Lighter than expected. Holding it, you can feel that it belongs somewhere else.
