Character from Pokémon Platinum by Game Freak / Nintendo
Sinnoh's villainous organization — space-suited grunts named after celestial bodies, motivated not by profit or territory but by their leader's desire to unmake the universe and rebuild it without spirit.
Team Galactic stands apart from every villain organization in the series because its goal is cosmological, not political. Team Rocket wanted money. Team Magma/Aqua wanted to reshape one world. Team Galactic wants to destroy the universe itself. The organization recruits through a combination of ideology (Cyrus's philosophy is articulate and persuasive to the emotionally isolated) and structure (the hierarchy is corporate, the ranking system clear). Children are barred from joining, which suggests standards. The naming convention extends from Cyrus himself — 'Cyrus' derives from a Persian word meaning 'sun' — through the commanders named after planets and moons. This is either Cyrus expressing rare sentimentality about celestial bodies or a recruitment tool that makes members feel part of something cosmic. Probably both.
Members wear white and black bodysuits that look like simplified spacesuits, earning them the nickname 'spacemen' from Sinnoh locals. Hair is styled in unusual spikes or shapes. The uniform signals belonging to something larger than regional concerns. Commanders wear versions with more detail and color.
