The Tower Tycoon of the Battle Frontier — one of the most powerful trainers in Sinnoh, Barry's largely absent father, and the person Barry is either trying to surpass or trying not to think about.
Palmer is the Tower Tycoon — the Frontier Brain who oversees the Battle Tower in the Battle Zone. He is famous, well-regarded, and almost never in Twinleaf Town. This isn't cruelty; it's just who he is. He's a trainer, and he is very good at being a trainer, and that has taken him somewhere other than home. Barry grew up with the knowledge that his father was both exceptional and away. What he does with that is the core tension of his character arc. He doesn't talk about Palmer unprompted. He brings up fines and speed and being first. But he trains hard in a way that looks like it's for him and might be partly for the man who is never quite there to see it. Palmer uses Rhyperior, Milotic, and Dragonite — a team of power, grace, and legacy. When he battles the player at the Battle Frontier, he holds nothing back.
A tall man with the same blonde hair as Barry, spiked up in a way that makes clear the resemblance isn't coincidence. Muscular build, confident posture, and the particular ease of someone who wins most things. His face looks like Barry's face after the urgency has settled.
