Looker appears throughout Platinum in disguise and not-quite-disguise, investigating Team Galactic's operations and providing the player with items including the Vs. Recorder and the Black Flute. His speech has an odd grammatical quality — constructs that are almost right but slightly off, suggesting he learned the local language formally rather than natively. He's competent in the way that undercover officers are competent: not through combat strength but through information, patience, and the backup plan that appears when the first plan fails. He's been tracking Galactic long enough to know who Charon is and what he's planning, which is why he's at Stark Mountain when Charon arrives. Looker recurs across generations of Pokémon games in a way no other NPC does — appearing in X/Y with profound emotional stakes, suffering amnesia in ORAS, tracking criminal syndicates across three continents. Platinum is where he starts.
