Dialga

Character from Pokémon Platinum by Game Freak / Nintendo

The Pokémon of time — Sinnoh mythology's temporal deity, the mascot of Pokémon Diamond, and one of the two legendary Pokémon Cyrus tries to control at Spear Pillar.

According to Sinnoh mythology, time began when Dialga was born. It continues with each of Dialga's heartbeats. The Diamond Clan in the ancient Hisui era worshipped it as the almighty Sinnoh itself, mistaking it for Arceus. This is a very understandable mistake. Dialga can manipulate time — accelerating it, decelerating it, reversing it, stopping it. Its signature move is Roar of Time. When holding the Adamant Orb, it transforms into its Origin Forme, its true appearance, resembling a hybrid between dragon and its creator Arceus. Cyrus attempts to control both Dialga and Palkia at Spear Pillar using Red Chains. He almost succeeds. Giratina intervenes. The dimensional catastrophe that would have resulted from the two legendary Pokémon of time and space being forced into conflict under human control is not fully depicted, which is its own kind of horror.

Appearance

A massive sauropod-like creature with metallic grey and blue plating, a prominent diamond-shaped crystal embedded in its chest, and the bearing of something that has existed since time started. Steel and Dragon type — the combination feels inevitable once you think about it.
