• Born and raised in Sunyshore City — his hometown is the same city as Volkner, the gym leader who gave up on challengers
• Believes emotions are the root of all conflict and that eliminating spirit would create a perfect world
• Forged Red Chains from the life-force crystals of the three lake guardians (Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf) to control Dialga and Palkia
• After Giratina drags him into the Distortion World, he chooses to remain — he finds the emotionless void appealing
• His grandfather lives on Route 228 and regrets not intervening when Cyrus was young
• Treats Team Galactic as a tool, not a cause — he has no particular loyalty to Mars, Jupiter, or Saturn
• The only villain in the main series to achieve his immediate goal (summoning the legendaries) and still lose
